Generally available late spring through early fall. Approximately 25-30 chilies per pound. Available from the USA and Mexico. About the same size a jalapeno, with broader shoulders. A bit hotter than the jalapeno, it is sensational roasted, sauced, or pickled and makes a beautiful addition diced into cornbread batter. It is a medium hot chile. Store between 45-55 degrees F, and keep away from ethylene gas producing items. Fresh chilies do not produce ethylene gas.
